Paphiopedilum Images
The name Paphiopedilum is derived from greek word Paphius and pedilon, which means shoes. The popular name for Paphiopedilum is Lady Slipper. Paphiopedilum orchids are mostly terrestrial and sometimes grow as epiphytes plants and originate from the jungles of the Far East like India, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. They are semi-terrestrial, growing in humus and other material on the forest floor, on cliffs in pockets and occasionally in trees. They're easy to grow in the home, under lights or in the greenhouse.
